5TH KOREAN DRAWING COMPETITION AWARD CEREMONY 2014

5th Korean Drawing Competition Award Ceremony 2014


The 5th Korean Drawing Competition began in March 2014 with a Teacher Training Workshop to sensitize students and teachers tour of 40 schools in Abuja to ensure adherence to the theme . The theme for this is year is Korea & Nigeria Bilateral Relations. The main competition  began on April 7th and ended on April 23rd 2014. The drawings were done on the spot at the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria in Abuja. A total of about 233 drawing were done. The Drawings were assessed by a combined team of National Gallery of Art officials, FCT UBEB officials and KCCN staff. The exercise took place May 13th ~15th, 2014.

 

The Award Ceremony took place on May 22nd 2014 at the KCCN. Students and teachers were honoured. In attendance were Ambassador Choi Jong Hyun; Supervising Minister of Education, Barrister Nyesom Wike represented by his Special Assistant, Mr Lambert Okpara; Chairman, FCT UBEB Alhaji Umar Barau Ningi represented by Board member FCT UBEB, Barrister Benjamin Ogbara; Director, FCT UBEB, Dr. Jatau Noma; Director, Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria, Mr. Kwon Yong Ik, Co-ordinator, Creative Arts FCT UBEB, Mrs Uche Onwugbufor.

 

The ceremony began with an exciting performance by Rhythm and Sax. They performed Korean songs (Arrirang, In the street, Beauty), International song ( Let it go), A medley of Nigerian songs.  There were speeches by the  Korean Ambassador to Nigeria,  Supervising Minister of Education; FCT UBEB Chairman; FCT UBEB Director;  Creative Arts FCT UBEB Co-ordinator. Then Prizes were presented to worthy winners. There were 20 Consolation prizes, 6 Bronze, 3 Silver prizes and 1 Gold prize. For the first time in the history of the Competition Teachers were honoured. The Competition was sponsored by LG Electronics.
