This year usual Korean Ambassador Taekwondo
Championship could not take place because of the Annual National Sports
Festival so its place the Korean Ambassador
Taekwondo Workshop and Award Ceremony was held.The purpose was acheive
the following:


(a) Localization of Taekwondo in Nigeria


(b) Training of Instructors in order to build platform
of grass-root      Taekwondo development.


(c) Commendation to the contributors of Taekwondo in
order to promote the activities.


 


 


At least 22 Nigerians incuding the Minister of Sports, Mallam
Bolaji Abdullahi were honoured by the Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Choi
Jong-hyun for the enormous contributions to the development of Taekwondo in
the country.


 


 


Other  prominent sports personalities such as the
Director-General of the National Sports Commission Chief Patrick Ekeji, Senator
Uche Chukwumerije, president of the Nigeria Taekwondo federation, Chief Jonathan
Nnaji and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gideon Akinsola were honoured
as well.


 


 


Grand Masters like Kofi Anani, Emmanuel Ikpeme, Dominic Bassey,
Abdullahi  Saidu, Tayo Popoola, George Ashiru were honoured. While Joyce
Ezeala-Ogundare and Chinedu Ezeala were not left out.


 


In other Award categories 3 time Olympian, Chika Chukwumerije;
Ferguson Oluigbo, Best Referee; Usman Sulaiman, Best National Player; Omowa
Omorege, Best Female Player; Ibrahim Yahuza, Best Coach; Agada Elijah Agada,
Best Juvenile Athlete.
