The Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria is now receiving applications for the 2022 Korean Speech and Writing Competition. Anyone who is studying Korean and is interested in participating is very welcome to join us. Please feel free to send in your work. [Previous Korean Speech and Writing Contest winners are not permitted to apply]. Participants are allowed to apply for both contest [speech & writing].

1. SPEECH CONTEST

- Topic: 10년 후 나의 모습, 내 미래

Application Procedure:

·       Make a one-minute video using the topic given.

·       Upload the video on Youtube and input the link on the google form below.

APPLICATION FORM

·       The final 10 will be selected and noticed via email to compete at the grand finale.

·       Only participants who will be able to come to the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria office for the finale can apply.

- Evaluation Criteria: Diversity of Content (30%), Fluency of Expression (30%), Accuracy of Grammar(20%), Accuracy of Pronunciation(10%) and Active Attitude(10%)

2. WRITING CONTEST

- Topic: 10년 후 나의 모습, 내 미래

- Length of Writing: 300 and above Korean Characters

- Evaluation Criteria: Diversity of Content(40%), Development of Writing(20%), Diversity of Expression(20%) and Accuracy of Language Use(20%)

3. COMPETITION SCHEDULES

- Submission Period:

  16th May – 1st June, 2022

Final Candidate Announcement for Speech Contest: 3rd June (Via Email)

- Finale & Awards Ceremony:

   7th June, 2022

- Result Announcement for Writing Contest:

   8th June, 2022

 4. ABOUT THE FINALE

All participants should please note the following about the grand finale on 7th June 2022

For Speech Contest;

·       All final 10 participants will be given a maximum of three (3) minutes to speak on the topic.

·       The speech contest will begin at exactly 2pm hence it is advised that participants be at the venue at least 30minutes before the contest begins.

·       The speech contest and award ceremony will last for 2hours – [2pm – 4pm]

For Writing Contest;

·       All participants will be given a maximum of 45 minutes to write on the topic given.

·       The writing contest will begin at exactly 4:30pm hence it is advised that participants be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the contest begins

·       KCCN will provide all writing materials for the writing contest.

·       The writing contest result will be announced the following day on KCCN social media pages and website on 8th June 2022.

·       The winners will also be contacted with any further information after the contest. This includes; account information etc.

5. PRIZES

SPEECH CONTEST

1st Prize: N30,000 & Trip to Korea / 2nd Prize: N20,000 / 3rd Prize: N10,000

WRITING CONTEST

1st Prize: N20,000 / 2nd Prize: N10,000 / 3rd Prize: N5,000

* Due to COVID-19 safety rules, trip to Korea is tentative and will be decided by the headquarters of King Sejong Institute.
