Korean Movie, Canola
screened at 1st Asian Film Festival Nigeria
Lots of
people converged at the China Cultural Centre to watch the Korean Movie, Canola
on July 4, 2017. They watched the movie with keen interest.
The movie
began by 7:00pm. It was about Gye-choon who is reunited with her granddaughter
Hye-ji after 12 years of separation. High school student Hye-Ji is a troubled
teen with a scarred mind and a secret, after a life of petty crime on the mean
streets of Seoul. Gye-Choon is a hanyeo (female diver) on Jeju Island living a
simple, community-based life when her adorable, doted-upon little granddaughter
— her only surviving family member goes missing. The movie shows how the warmth
of her grandmother’s unswerving devotion and how family is always on your side.
Over 100 people attended the ceremony as Korean Cultural Centre provided snack
and other drinks to entertain guests.
