KCC Nigeria Creative Poomsae Championship 2021

Creative Poomsaes are a form of taekwondo demonstration competitions involving the harmonious fusion of conventional taekwondo patterns with music, acrobatics and related physical fitness activities.

OBJECTIVES OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2021 KCC Nigeria Taekwondo Free-Style (Creative) Poomse competition is aimed at:

(a) Creating digital awareness of poomsae through youths engagement in sports

(b)                        Providing a platform for healthy competitions among grassroots and elite taekwondo athletes in Nigeria

(c) Strengthening bilateral relationships between Nigeria and South Korea

(d)                        Engaging the youths positively and creatively through taekwondo

Please note the following information for the competition; 

 

CHAMPIONSHIP DATE/ SCHEDULES

REGISTRATION

Registration is free.

Only registered athletes would be allowed to compete (no room for replacements or additional Team Officials)

PRELIMINARY SELECTION: Submission of Creative Poomsae video by each contestant or Team/ Clubmust be done on or before Monday 6th, September 2021 


GRAND FINALE: The best three (3) videos shall be invited to perform LIVE at the finals on Friday,September 17th 2021 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The grand finale is a live show (stage performance) !!!


WINNERS REWARD

Certificate of Participation

All participants shall receive certificates of participation


WINNERS’ PRIZES

Winners shall receive cash prizes (in naira) aside being streamed LIVE!!! During the Final Contest to hold at the KCCN Abuja.     
 

OFFICIATING

The current WT Poomsae Officiating Rules shall be adopted for both the preliminary and final stages. When there is a tie between contestants, a regular poomse (Koryo and below would be used to decide the winner of such tie)

JUDGES

Current WTPoomsae Referees shall be appointed to judge the 2021 KCC Nigeria Taekwondo Creative Poomsae Championship. Judges decisions shall be final.

 

 

WTF POOMSAE FREE-STYLE COMPETITION GUIDELINES

 

1. Composition of Free Style Poomsae

1.1. Yeon-mu line shall choice of contestant.

1.2. Music & choreography shall be choice of a contestant. However, it should not contain any political, social and religious contents.

1.3. Number of Poom: Each performance shall be composite of 20 to 24 poom (Composition of 1 poom shall be no more than 5 motions).

1.4. Technique: Each performance shall be composite of attacking and defending techniques of Taekwondo with 60% foot techniques and 40% hand techniques. 1.5. Performed techniques must be within boundary of Taekwondo.

 

2. Division

2.1. Individual: Male / Female

 2.2. Team: 3 members per team(There is freedom of sex composition)

 

 3. Uniform of the participant

3.1. Participant shall wear WTF-recognized Poomsae competition uniform.

 

4. Duration of Contest

4.1. Individual, Pair and Team competition from 60 seconds to 70 seconds.

 

5. Scoring Criteria

5.1. Scoring shall be made in accordance with the rules of the WTF.

5.2. The types of foot techniques designated by WTF Poomsae Committee for current WT World Poomsae Championships;

5.2.1. Height of kicks – This must be relatively at same gradient, especially in side kick (in case of pair and team division, entire team members must perform this technique)

5.2.2. Number of kicks in a jump – Multiple kicks in a jump e.g double front kick/ roundhouse kick (at least one member of the team must perform this technique)

5.2.3. Gradient of spins in a spin kick - Spinning hook kick or turning kick must be executed with head above torso line (at least one member of the team must perform this technique)

5.2.4. Performance level of consecutive kicks – Kyorugi style kick (at least one member of the team must perform this technique) *3~5 bouncing steps in a spot is mandatory before executing the Kyorugi style kicks.

5.2.5. Acrobatic actions – Any acrobatic action performance with kick(s). (at least one member of the team must perform this technique)

5.3. Point shall be awarded only if athletes perform the techniques as outlined so far (Article 5.2)

5.4. Each foot technique shall not be repeated more than five times.

5.5. Two of the following stances must be included in the performance at least once  Dwitkubi (Backward inflection stance), Beom-seogi (Tiger stance), Hakdariseogi (Crane stance) and koa-seogi (cross stance). 


GRAND FINALE

A total of fifteen (15) athletes would qualify for the final stage (Live Contest) to be hosted by the KCCN 10am on Friday 17th September, 2021 in Abuja.

(a) Individual Male: Best 3 video entries

(b)                        Individual Female: Best 3 video entries

(c) Team (discretional sex composition for 3 players per team): Best 3 video entries making a total of nine (9) athletes

Hotel accommodation for a night (Thursday 16th September/ Friday 17th September 2021) shall be provided for the lucky finalists (15 athletes only) by the Championship Organizers

DISCLAIMER

The KCCN and members of the Championship Organizing Committee shall not be responsible for any injuries or mishaps that may occur during or after the event.

QUALITY CONTROL RULE

The Championship Organizers may cancel the Grand Finale if registration and video entries fall below minimum taekwondo competition standards.
