KCCN <SAC ON SCREEN> Event: Heartwarming Film ‘The Old Couple’
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the Korean Cultural Center in Nigeria (Director Juho Jeon, hereinafter referred to as the Cultural Center) successfully hosted a screening of the Korean film “The Old Couple” as part of the <SAC on Screen> series, supported by the Seoul Arts Center. The event was held at the Cultural Center's auditorium and brought together members of the local arts community, media representatives, and general audiences.
The film, which portrays the quiet and poignant story of an elderly couple, was selected to explore themes of aging, companionship, and the emotional resilience found in daily life. Through this cinematic experience, the Center aimed to present Korean storytelling that resonates across generations and cultures.
After the screening, a brief discussion was held where participants shared heartfelt reactions. One attendee remarked, “Though Korean films are new to me, this story reminded me of my own grandparents. It was simple, yet deeply moving.” Another noted the subtle emotional depth and universal appeal of the narrative.
The SAC on Screen program will continue monthly, featuring a variety of Korean performing arts and cinematic works. Upcoming features include “Secret Museum” in July, illusionist Lee Eun-gyeol’s “The Illusion – Masterpiece” in August, and the opera “Die Zauberflöte” in September.
Through these screenings, the Korean Cultural Center strives to deepen mutual understanding and promote the richness and diversity of Korean content to Nigerian audiences and the wider art community.
