SEOLLAL 2026 - Korean Lunar New Year Celebration

The Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria cordially invites the public to join its 2026 Korean Lunar New Year celebration also known as Seollal. Seollal marks the Lunar New Year in Korea, celebrated according to the lunar calendar,so the date changes every year. In 2026, Seollal falls on 17 February. It is a time to honor ancestors, strengthen family bonds, and welcome a new year with respect and gratitude.
Event Activities:
· Korean Traditional Games (Gonggi nori, Jegi chagi, Yut nori, Tuho and Ddakji Chigi)
· Small Hansik gift for all attendees
* Gonggi nori: A game throwing and catching small items with one’s hand
* Jegi chagi: Jegi chagi is a game similar to the Western game of hacky sack.
* Yut nori: Yutnori is a traditional board game played by two people or two teams.
* Tuho: A traditional game of throwing arrows into a narrow-mouthed jar from a distance.
* Ddakji Chigi: A game where players flip over their opponent’s folded paper tile by striking it with their own.
