Exhibition Overview:
The Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria cordially invites the public to its exhibition titled “K-POP Meets Korean Traditional Music,” running until 15th August.
This exhibition, supported by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and KOFICE under the "Touring K-Arts" project, explores the fusion of K-pop and Korean traditional music.
Key Highlights:
●K-pop Meets Korean Traditional Music: Co-hosted by the National Gugak Center and the Nigeria Korean Cultural Center, the exhibition showcases the intersection of K-pop and Korean traditional music, highlighting the emotional depth created by blending the two.
●Exhibition Focus: The exhibition highlights how elements of Korean traditional music are incorporated into K-pop, with three main sections:
1.K-pop Meets Pungryu: Featuring the high culture of the late Joseon period, where the elite class gathered to share music and art, now influencing K-pop.
2.K-pop Strolls Through the Palace: Exploring the grandeur of Joseon court music, used in K-pop to symbolize formality and authority.
3.K-pop Unfolds Yeonhui: Showcasing traditional Korean performances like pungmul-nori, mask plays, and talchum, which have found their way into K-pop performances.
This exhibition offers a unique experience of the evolving relationship between modern K-pop and Korean traditional art forms. We welcome everyone to visit the Korean Cultural Centre’s exhibition hall for a wholesome K-music fusion experience.
