「2023 King Sejong Institute

Training Course

for Korean Language Teachers」

King Sejong Institute plans to operate the「2023 King Sejong Institute Training Course for Korean Language Teachers」as follows , in order to stably secure Korean language teachers and support the improvement of experienced Korean language teachers’ capabilities. We appreciate your support.

1. Overview

A. Training Institution Yonsei University / Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria King Sejong Institute

B. Training Period: August~November 2023

C. Target: Teachers at King Sejong Institute/ Prospective Korean language teachers

(Refer to “2.Requirements” for the details)

D. The Number of Recruits: 5~25

E. Training Content: King Sejong Institute Training Course for Korean Language Teachers (120 hours) and special lectures

※ Depending on the eligibility for participation, the number of hours and content of the special lectures will vary

* Prospective Korean language teachers who do not meet the Korean language proficiency standards (level 3) must take the basic course.

F. Program Format: Online Lectures + Practice^*

* The practice will be conducted face-to-face or non-face-to-face format, taking into consideration the availability of face-to-face education related to COVID-19 in the region. The practice format will be decided after the consultation with the King Sejong Institute Foundation.

G. Providing

- Entire courses free of charge

- A completion certificate

※ (Completion criteria) Complete the entire training program with 100% attendance and achieve a score of 70 or higher on the assessment of achievementst·performance.

2. Requirements

A. Participant Condition: Those who can participate in the entire program

① Teachers at King Sejong Institute:'Korean language education' experience among the types of qualification for Korean language teachers at King Sejong Institute (Confirm registration with the NBMS)

②Prospective Korean language teachers: All the requirements below must be met

- (For native speakers)

·A bachelor's degree from a national or local university

·A valid visa for long-term stay and teacher activities in the country

- (For non-native speakers) One of the requirements below must be met

·A bachelor's degree in a Korean language-related department at a local university

·Korean proficiency level 4 or higher^*※An informal test will be conducted for applicants who don't have TOPIK results

* Applicants below level 6 are required to take basic courses during the training period

[How to verify your Korean proficiency]

▶ Submission of evidential documents: When applying for participation,

please submit a Korean proficiency certificate.

* Applicants who do not have the evidential document can verify their proficiency after taking the ‘Korean Language Proficiency Verification Test’

▶‘Take the Korean language proficiency verification test(Informal)’⇐If the result of the Korean proficiency test’s validity period has expired or does not exist.

-Evaluation Period: July 2023 (A detailed schedule will be notified separately)

-Evaluation Method: Online speaking test through ZOOM

-Evaluator: Specialized assessment instructor

-Evaluation Procedure

① Indicate the examination status on the ‘Application Form’

② Guide applicants the test method: Individual mail

③ Conduct the test on a designated date and time: 15~20 minutes per examinee

-Evaluation Decision: Depending on the eligibility for application

A. Teachers at King Sejong Institute: [No qualification]-[Level 6 or higher (Pass)]

B. Prospective Korean language teachers: [No qualification] -[Level 3 (Conditional pass)] -[Level 4 or higher (Pass)]

-Result Announcement: July 2023, Individual mail
