In May, the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria (KCCN) commemorated its 15th anniversary with a vibrant three-day celebration showcasing the richness of Korean culture and its growing impact in Nigeria.

Day 1: Opening Ceremony – May 19
The celebration officially kicked off with an opening ceremony on May 19, attended by the Centre’s core stakeholders, including partner organizations, Hallyu Creators, Honorary Reporters, Sejong Institute students, and Taekwondo students. The event served as a moment to reflect on KCCN’s journey and its role in deepening cultural ties between Korea and Nigeria.

Day 2: Korean Film & Hansik Experience – May 20
On May 20, the festivities continued at Truck Central Abuja with a Korean classic movie screening and Hansik (traditional Korean cuisine) tasting event. Attendees enjoyed authentic flavors of Korea through traditional rice wine Makgeolli and savory seafood pancake Haemul Pajeon. The evening concluded with a screening of the beloved Korean classic film Mother and a Guest, offering guests a deeper appreciation of Korea’s cinematic heritage. It was a night filled with flavor, nostalgia, and cultural immersion.

Day 3: Cultural Dialogue & Development – May 21
To conclude the anniversary celebrations, KCCN partnered with Youth Orientation for Development (YOD) on May 21 to mark the upcoming 2025 UNESCO World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. This event provided a platform for dialogue on the value of cultural diversity and allowed participants to reflect on KCCN’s contributions to intercultural understanding through its wide range of programs.
