September Culture Day: Chuseok Celebration 2021(Korean Wrestling Tournament-Ssireum)
Experience the Korean traditional Chuseok celebration at KCCN!
Chuseok is a yearly Korean thanksgiving festival celebrated with loved ones. People travel back to their ancestral homes to celebrate this festival. It is a celebration of a good harvest and a hope that the coming year will be better than the previous. For this year 2021, Chuseok celebration falls in 20th – 22nd Sept.
To celebrate the Korean culture day in September, KCCN will hold a Chuseok day event featuring Korean Wrestling Tournament Ssireum.
Ssrireum is a game usually played during Chuseok. It is played between two players where both players hold onto each-others satba, a red and blue band tied across their thigh, and the one whose upper body gets pinned to the floor first loses.
Here’s a Video Example of the Ssireum Game: (Please note that all participants are expected to participate in the tournament during the event)
Prizes for Wrestling Tournament Winners:
1st prize: 10kg Korean rice
2nd prize: 4kg Korean rice
3rd prize: 2kg Korean rice
Plus 1kg Korean rice and an apple for all participants

Time: 3:30pm
Venue: KCCNigeria Dojang
Maximum 20 attendees only (10 male, 10 female)
Instruction: All attendees are advised wear a mask and to dress comfortably while coming for the event.
