문화원, 한-아프리카재단과 나이지리아청소년캠프 개최

The Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria in Partnership with the Korea-Africa Foundation organized a 6-day Youth-Camp for 8 students of Marist College Yangoji, Abuja.

The 8 students were students who emerged winners with 1st and 2nd position in the 2021 SAGE National competition and one of their projects won a gold medal on SDG-6 Clean water and sanitation during the SAGE International competition!

On Nov 1st, to kick off the Youth Camp, the students met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Nigeria, Kim Young Chae at his residence. The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria, Lee Jin Su, 2 staff of Marist College, 1 SAGE Nigeria representative and 3 staff of KCCNigeria.

On  Day 2, 2nd Nov, of the Youth Camp, the students experienced various aspects of the Korean culture like Hanbok and Hangeul at KCCN.

Through the KCCN director's presentation, they also learned about KCCNigeria activities & events.

At the end of their visit, they received branded items and embarked on a trip to Lagos to visit some Korean companies.

On 3rd Nov, the 3rd day of the Youth Camp, the students attended a Korean drumming class where they learnt about Jang-gu a Korean traditional drum.

Led by Isioma Williams, the students were taught how to play the Janngu drum. They had a good time drumming various beats.

The students also visited Samsung experience centre Lagos (A Korean brand company) on 3rd Nov, Day 3 of the Youth Camp.


Welcomed by the Managing Director, Samsung Electronics West Africa, Danny Kim and his team, the students took a tour around the Samsung experience centre and learned about Samsung's mobile story and electronics.

They were also very excited to physically experience some of the latest Samsung products. As a team whose winning projects were centred around technology, they were happy to learn about the cutting edge technology of Samsung's products.

On Nov 4th, Day 4 of the Youth-Camp, the students visited LG Electronics office Lagos(A Korean brand company).

They were received by, the Managing Director, Dong Youn Kim, the Service General Manager, Kyeong Taek Park and the Head of Cooperate Marketing Hari Krishna Elluru.

The students watched some videos that introduced the history of LG Electronics and its Nigerian celebrity ambassadors and also took a tour around the LG office to learn about the various latest range of consumer electronics of the company!

On Day 4 [Nov 4th], the students also visited the Korean Embassy office in Lagos.

Welcomed by Consul General Haenggu Kang, they learnt about the activities of the Consular in Nigeria.
Being the first visitors of the new Lagos Consular office, they toured the office and received small gifts from the Consul General!

On Nov 5th [Day 5 of the Youth-Camp], the students visited the production factory of Solpia Nigeria; a Korean Hair Company and manufacturers of the popular X-Pression hair extension in Nigeria.

Led by the Managing Director Shin Jungwook, The students were shown around the factory and saw first-hand, the production process of the X-Pression products.

They also had the opportunity to try some wigs at the display saloon and had fun doing so.

At the end of their visit, they received various X-Pression products and merchandise.

To round off the Youth-Camp, the students visited Nike Art Centre Lagos on Nov 6th.


They toured the centre experiencing over 20,000 artworks by 5000+ artists available in the art centre.

The icing on the cake was meeting the founder, Mama Nike also referred to as a champion of African Art. She heartily welcomed and encouraged the students.

Experiencing symbolic and unique African art at the Nike Art Centre Lagos was surely a beautiful memory for the students.

The final tour experience was a visit to the Lekki Conservation Centre on Day 6, 6th Nov by the students.

A tour of the centre and the canopy walk was exciting & thrilling.

The Lekki Conservation Centre experience left a lasting impression of the youth-camp on the students!

The Youth-Camp is geared towards giving the students an experience of Korean Cultural and entrepreneurship activities in Nigeria as well as strengthening cultural ties and fostering friendly relations between Korea & Nigeria.
