    The Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria held a Seollal (Lunar New Year) event for the parents & children of its Taekwondo class on 21st Feb 2024. The event was to mark the Seollal (Lunar New Year) celebration which took place in Korea from Feb 9th -12th. While parents participated in making good luck knots/writing New Year wishes and receiving Saebae (Korean New Year Bow) from the children, the children played traditional Korean games like, Tuho, Jegi Chagi and ddakji Chigi. At the end of the events, the children received Bokjumeoni (traditional Korean lucky bag) filled with sweets and yakgwa (Korean honey cookies) as a meaningful good luck symbol for the New Year.     On Feb 8th, the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria held a Korean culture day event at the American International School Abuja (AISA) for the students. The events featured various experiential Korean cultural activities from Taekwondo to K-pop, Hanguel calligraphy writing, Korean fan/mask painting, Janggu (Korean traditional drum) performance, Hanbok (Korean traditional clothes) wearing and Korean food tasting.   3. Farewell Ceremony of Amb. Kim Young Chae

    On 25th Jan, a farewell and honorary degree conferment ceremony was held for Amb. Kim Young Chae, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria. The event was attended by the Diplomatic Community, past and present Nigerian government executives and officials, Management of Western Delta University, Nigerian media personnel among others. At the farewell gathering, the Ambassador was conferred an honorary degree by the Western Delta University, in recognition of his immense contribution to the University inclusive of the restoration of one of the University’s Chambers. He was also honored by the renowned proprietress of the NIKE Art Gallery chain Mama Nike and Alayemore of Ido-Osun, Oba (Dr.) (Arc.) Aderemi Adeen Adeniyi-Adedapo. The duo crowned him with a chieftaincy title, ‘OTUNBA ABUMU-BUWE’ and her Excellency, the Ambassador’s wife ‘YEYE ABUMU-BUWE’ for her active role with the Ambassador. The Ambassador gave his farewell remarks, recognized certain individuals for their role in his time in Nigeria, and promised to return to Nigeria to visit. Prominent guests like Governor, Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, guests also gave farewell remarks. The night rounded up with a buffet reception. Photos:

  5. KCCN Holds Opening Ceremony of the 5th Asian Film Festival

    The Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria hosted the opening ceremony of the 5th Asian Film Festival on 27th Nov at the centre's studio/exhibition hall. The opening ceremony was attended by VIPs from all 8 participating countries including Mr Seyed Azizollah Miryousefi, Ambassador Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abuja, and H.E. G. Balasubramanian, High Commissioner of India. Korea's movie "Extreme Job" and Iran's movie "Painting pool" were screened on the same day after the opening ceremony. The Movie Festival continued at the Yunus Emre Institute Abuja ended on 1st Dec 2023. Photos:
